2017 saw the fifth annual Riverina Youth Leadership Forum held on Thursday 31st August 2017 at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. The 2017 Forum focused on providing young people with the tools required to have a stronger voice in society, take a leadership role in their community and also inspired them to get involved in volunteering in their local community.
The Forum also showcased the significant achievements of three young people who chose to stand up and take charge. The inspirational guest speakers at the 2017 Take Charge Forum were Samuel Clarke, Youth Ambassador for R U OK?, Lilly Lyons, Youth Ambassador for Save the Children and 2015 National Youth Award for Youth Safety and Brynlea Gibson, 2015 Australian Youth Leadership Award and iAward winner. Students were also able to engage in workshops focused on recycling projects, communication – using social media for good as well as a session on mindfulness by the Mindful Warrior – Ms Anna Gannon.
