RIVERINA SPATIAL INFORMATION GROUP
The Riverina Spatial Information Group (RivSIG) was formed to support professionals working in the area of spatial technology In the Riverina region. The group includes members from the eastern and western Riverina region who work within local government, state agencies and government departments as well as private enterprise. Recently RivSIG has opened its doors to membership from professionals outside of the Riverina Region and we excited to now provide a forum for professional development in spatial information right across the state. RivSIG is auspiced by the Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils (REROC).
Meetings are held four times per year in February, May and August and to coincide with Mapped Out in November. The meetings are relatively informal with ample opportunity for members to discuss issues, problems and new developments in the spatial field. Guest speakers are arranged for each meeting, with presentations covering a wide range of spatial issues, including projects, technology, training and data.
Due to Covid conflict, all RivSIG meetings are currently held via Zoom. We hope to adopt a hybrid model in 2023, where members can choose how to attend, and still provide an engaging way for all members to collaborate and engage with each meeting.
The objectives of the group are:
to provide a forum for professional development in spatial information
to promote and improve avenues for sourcing spatial data
to increase awareness of careers in spatial information
to lobby for improved resources from government bodies to assist with these objectives.
RivSIG organises the Mapped Out Conference each year. This year the Group will hold the Mapped Out Conference on Wednesday 16 & Thursday 17 November 2022 in Wagga Wagga. Please visit the Mapped Out page of the REROC website for further details about this year’s Conference.
Membership is open to anyone working in or who has an interest in the spatial industry. There are no joining or membership fees.
