Regional Freight Transport Plan

The implementation of integrated transport solutions for the region is an overriding goal of the project and to that end REROC has reviewed both the rail and road transport networks that service the eastern Riverina region. The Plan is supported by an interactive mapping tool.

Every fortnight we do it. Close the lid on our recycling bin, wheel it out to the kerb and.... forget about it.

Everyone wants to recycle right, wants to be sure that what they put it in the bin is the right thing. What to put in and what to leave out. Recycle Night? Recycle Right! is REROC's newest recycling education campaign which provides information on how to recycle, what to recycle, the do not's of recycling as well as the stories behind the people that sort your recycling.

REROC Waste Forum

Co-operation between REROC member councils in relation to waste management

The REROC Waste Forum was established in 1997 to promote co-operation between REROC member councils in relation to waste management. Since that time it has expanded beyond waste management issues to encompass a wide variety of environmental issues and has been responsible for initiating a number of diverse projects.

BUILD A BRIDGE…AND GET OVER IT!

Build A Bridge is a 3-day Camp run by REROC in partnership with Compact Inc. It aims to encourage students in years 10 to 12 to consider a career in civil engineering. Students participate in practical, hands-on activities over the three days that allow them to experience the work that a civil engineer does.

The Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils (REROC) is a voluntary association of seven General Purpose Councils and two Water County Councils located in the eastern Riverina region of NSW.

The members of REROC are the councils of: Bland Shire Council, Coolamon Shire Council, Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council, Greater Hume Shire Council, Junee Shire Council, Lockhart Shire Council, Temora Shire Council and Goldenfields Water County Council and Riverina Water County Council.

REROC covers an area in excess of 28,447 sq. kms and a population of approximately 48,260. The voluntary aspect of the Organisation encompasses every project that it undertakes. Members only participate in a REROC project if they believe it will generate positive outcomes for their council.

Local governance is never sacrificed to achieve efficiencies, member councils are not pressured to participate in a project, it is never a case of "one in - all in". The members are committed to this stance and believe it is one of the reasons the Organisation has been so successful over a long period of time. REROC members are committed to supporting the voluntary nature of the Organisation and believe that it is one of its greatest strengths.

REROC WINS TIDY TOWNS AWARD

Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils (REROC) was announced as the winner in the Circular Economy Category of the 2025 Tidy Towns Sustainability Awards at a gala function in Parkes on Saturday evening 11 October 2025.

The award was for REROC’s project, Circular Organics in the Eastern Riverina, and was accepted on the gala night by REROC’s Circular Economy Project Officer - Peter Dale.

The project is funded under the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Bin Trim Program and is an initiative of the NSW EPA under the NSW Government’s Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy and is funded from the waste levy.

The Project commenced in January 2024 and the award was based on successful project delivery and outcomes in 4 Local Government areas, being: Lockhart, Junee, Coolamon and Gundagai.

The project seeks to encourage businesses that generate an organic (food) waste stream to divert any deposits from red lid general waste bins to green lid FOGO bins at the source. The deposit of organic waste into green waste deposits at councils’ processing locations contributes greatly to a better compost result which can then be used on councils’ public grounds including parks and gardens, sporting fields, and more, thus creating a circular outcome.
