Riverina Eastern Regional Orginisation of Councils

The Waste as Recycled Art Project (WRAP) aims to encourage students attending primary schools in the eastern Riverina to think of waste as a resource.

Stage 2 students attending primary school are invited to submit an artwork made from a box of clean waste. The waste is purchased by REROC from Reverse Garbage, this ensures that each student recieves similar if not exactly the same waste resources to make their art work.

Students are given four weeks to make their artwork. Artworks are displayed in local exhibitions in each REROC LGA. Selected works are exhibited at a regional display which is normally held in the first week of the October school holidays at a shopping mall in Wagga Wagga. The winner of the regional exhibition receives a presentation box of Derwent Artists' Pencils and the winning school receives a $500 workshop with a local artist. The artist's workshop is sponsored by the Eastern Riverina Arts Program (ERAP).

WRAP started in 2004 with with 15 schools and 500 students participating, in 2008 32 schools and 1200 students participated making it one of the largest activities of its type in Australia.
